Tennis’ New #1

After a big win to get into the finals at Wimbledon, men’s tennis also has a new number one.

Novak Djokovic beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (#12 seed) of France in sets 7-6 (4), 6-2, 6-7 (9), 6-3 to move into the finals at Wimbledon.

It was an amazing a entertaining semi-final match. Djokovic is 47-1 on the year and having an outstanding year.

He will face the defending champion Rafael Nadal for the Wimbledon title at the All England Club.

Djokovic is from Serbia, and has always dreamed of playing in the playing on the last day of Wimbledon.

Djokovic will face tough competition to get the win though. The number one seeded Nadal, is on a 20 game win streak on the grass court in Grand Slams, and he just beat the #4 player, Andy Murray in sets 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, 6-4.

It just wasn’t Murray’s year again, as he has lost in three straight years in the semi-finals.

If Nadal can beat the Serb, he will win his third Wimbledon title and will put his 11th Grand Slam trophy in the case. The number one ranking in the world is also at stake. Whoever comes out on top, will more than likely, be the new number one men’s tennis player in the world.

Nadal has a edge on Djokovic with 16 wins and 11 losses, and is undefeated against him in Grand Slams (5-0).

Djokovic is having a near perfect season and all eyes will be on this center court match between the two. Can Djokovic win his first Grand Slam match against Nadal and retain the number one in the world ranking?
