Surfing Expedition Finds Indonesian Treasure

The famous Rip Curl team has been “searching” for amazing waves deep in the jungles of Indonesia.

What they found was a discovery that’s unrivaled and incredible. I guess they found what they were looking for…

It wasn’t a coastline or shoreline where they found the swells, which makes this find so fascinating, but in a remote jungle river that gets hit by a serious tidal bore.

The result? 8-10 foot high waves that are seriously surfable.

Typically speaking, other tidal bores that have been found produce small, mushy waves, that aren’t too surfable.

This particular phenomenon is created because the tidal bore pushes swells upstream into dreamy walls of water.

Watch the video; it’s surreal:

Some people may think this is a great way to escape the jaws of sharks, but I beg to differ. These Indonesian waterways boast sharks, crocodiles, amazing & unique dolphins, even piranhas. A surfer still must keep their wits about themselves out there.

What’s more, the river water is cloudy and muddy. It is more difficult to detect the animals that are in the water.

Who ever it was that had the hunch they might find something amazing inland on a jungle river is a genius!

It makes me want to get out my board and find a new destination.
