As we get underway for the week 2 of the NFL playoffs, the Pittsburgh Steelers are the first to score on a Mendenhall TD run. Baltimore answered back with a TD run of their own by #27 Ray Rice.
The Steelers benefit from having a first round bye last week, but are facing the tough defense of the Baltimore Ravens lead by the scary, Ray Lewis.
Pitt has home field advantage in this one. The weather isn’t a factor as both teams are used to playing in the cold. The Steelers finished the season 12-4 and split the regular season games between them and Baltimore. The combine difference in the games in the regular season was 6 points.
In the other big AFC game you have the New York Jets heading to the New England Patriot’s home field to see who is going to make it to the AFC championship game.
The Patriots, lead by the almighty Tom Brady, finished the year with the best record in the NFL, at 14-2, and lead the league in scoring with 32.4 points per game.
The Jets, who have a strong running game, will use it to slow down Brady and there high powered offense. The Jets eked out a win last week against Manning and the Colts by 1 on a last second field goal. The Jets beat the Patriots in week 2 of the regular season 28-14, but the Patriots made a point by beating the Jets 45-3 in week 13.
Nonetheless, this game will be one to watch. The Jets are lead by a coach that believes they can beat anyone, and has been quite public about this over the last two years. It is this leadership that the Jets have been riding on.
