Scrappy VCU Upsets #1 Kansas

The Kansas Jayhawks were the last #1 seed in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament left, but the dreams of the Jayhawks ended today, and the Cinderella story of VCU continues.

Virginia Commonwealth Univ. (VCU) upset the Jayhawks in stellar fashion today 71-61.

They slowed down that high powered, silky smooth offensive of the Jayhawks with their zone defense.

They scored and took advantage of opportunities when they were presented. The most impressive factor was their ability to hold on to the lead.

VCU has had to win 5 games to get to this deep into the tournament, but they did it, by digging deep, great conditioning & leadership, and an amazing confident young coach… Shaka Smart.

VCU’s Skeen was hot today and had 26 points and 10 rebounds. He was all over the court, scoring, rebounding, and putting pressure on the Jayhawks with his “havoc” defense.

Rodriguez, the VCU point guard, controlled the game with his team leadership, ball control, and time management.

VCU, the #11 seed, will play the #8 seed Butler, who upset the Florida Gators Saturday night.

VCU is only the third 11th seed, to get into the Final Four and they said: “they are not done yet”.

Butler, VCU, and UConn are in the Final Four already. There is one game left between Kentucky and North Carolina to decide the final entry.

The Butler vs. VCU game will be exciting. They match up well. They both play great team ball, they both believe that they can win, they both have amazing coaching, they both can shoot, and they are both hungry to get into the Championship game.

VCU, a team that has never been to a Sweet 16, never been to an Elite 8, never been to a Final Four, has now accomplished all new heights in this year’s NCAA basketball tourney.

We know one thing for sure, we will either have a #11 seed, or a #8 seed in the National Championship game.
