Rangers Sweep Sox, Hit 11 Homeruns

After winning an American League Pennant for the first time in franchise history last year…

…The reigning AL Champs start the season just as hot this year by sweeping the Red Sox 3-0 at home.

The Texas Rangers proved in the opening series of this year, that they are a well-oiled machine, and are ready to make another run at the World Series.

Along with the sweep came a home run record. The Rangers Kinsler & Cruz, became the first teammates to each hit a homer in the first 3 games of the season.

The Rangers scored 26 runs and cracked 11 home runs to start the season. Cruz & Kinsler both have 3 home runs, Napoli has 2, and Murphy, Beltre & Torrealba all have 1.

The pitching staff for the Rangers was great also. In 3 games they only gave up only 20 hits. Collectively they also had 24 strikeouts.

This was also the first time in 15 years that the Red Sox start the season 0-3. According to ESPN, The Boston manager, Francona, said: “We got outplayed all the way around”.

The final scores for the three games went like this:

Game #1: 9-5 (Pitcher: Oliver 1-0)
Game #2: 12-5 (Pitcher: Lewis 1-0)
Game #3: 5-1 (Pitcher: Harrison 1-0)

The Rangers face the 2-1 Seattle Mariners at home on Monday April 4th.
