Phil Ivey Keeps #1 Ranking On ‘The Nuts’

The Nuts, a monthly feature that looks at the best poker players in the world, just released their new rankings for the month of March, and Phil Ivey maintained the #1 spot.

Phil Ivey is a online high stakes poker beast, and in March he banked $901,730 in profit. According to The Nuts, he averages about a million a month in winnings.

He is followed by Erik Seidel, Jason Mercier, and Tom Dwan.

Seidel won the National Heads-Up poker Championships and pocketed $750,000. Mercier also cashed $30,000 at the tourney.

Tom “Durrrr” Dwan, has lost almost a million this year holds down the 4th spot. He has been struggling against Daniel Cates in heads-up poker, and much of his losses went to him.

Speaking of Daniel Cates, he was a new comer to the list, only at #10, even though he banked over $740k profit in the last 30 days. He is definitely one of the best online cash game players, but hasn’t played in a WSOP yet.

He will debut in his first one in a couple of months. It will be interesting to see if he finds the same kind of success with his “cash game” style of play as Phil Ivey does, or even if he will switch it up. Phil has so many styles of play, but does Cates?

He was joined by another new comer into the top ten, Vivek Rajkumar. Vivek, has been on a cashing spree, getting to the final table twice in on the WPT tour. He finished 2nd and 4th, and added $1.23 million to his bank roll. In his career, he has 34 cashes and has made just over $4 million.

A surprise no show to the list was Gus Hansen, who through the first 3 months of the year, has made more money than every one on the list at over $4 million.
