The NFL & the NFL Players Association are scheduled to meet on July 21st in Atlanta, in a meeting that insiders are saying will put an agreement in place to end the lockout.

Although… The players feel that they have made significant concessions and the NFL hasn’t reciprocated.

One of those concessions is rookies compensation have been cut by 1/2 (first year only). Rookie compensation has been one of the most complicated and complex issue causing stalls in the negotiating process.

There are two important meetings scheduled for Wednesday July 13th and Thursday July 14th, that will really help to determine whether or not an agreement can be made by the 21st.

If the owners and the players do come to an agreement by the 21st, an agreement would be signed (The Transition Rules) that would layout an actually timeline for roster transactions.

Also if an agreement can be made by the 21st, insiders says that all training camps would start on time, the full pre-season would be played, and the official season and free agency would start on the 28th. Teams will then have the pressure of filling their roster by August 3rd (90 man).
