The 21 year old McIlroy, is still the clear favored as he steadily increases his lead, but he is still within striking distance, as some new meat atop the leaderboard and sets their sites on him for the final Sunday round.
Right now, Rory McIlroy is playing the best golf of his life, and at the right time to… The Masters.
He has pretty much controlled the lead since day #1, staying calm, cool, and collected.
On Saturday’s round he started the day at -10, but finished the day at -12, and now has a 4 shot lead over the next closest opponent.
There is a 4 way tie for second place right now, so 4 golfers are within 4 shots of the lead, and 2 more are within 5.
A. Cabrera, C. Schwartzel, K. Choi, and Jason Day, are all in a tie for second.
Cabrera shot a -5 under par today to move to -8. Schwartzel shot -4, Choi -1, and J. Day stayed even on his round today.
Jason Day was the Cinderella player from round 2, who shot -8 under to go from no where, into second on the Masters Leaderboard.
A. Scott shot -5 under today, and L. Donald shot -3 today, and both of them are at -7 for the tournament, and are the ones within 5 shots of the lead.
Anything can happen on Sunday, and with so many guns in contention for the green jacket, sparks will fly, hearts will be broken, and smiles will be big.
Tiger Woods moved to -7 yesterday and was within 3 shots of the lead. This peaked the interest of a lot of fans, who have been waiting for Tigers resurgence as a champion.
Today Tiger’s game was off, he shot a +2 over par, and finished the day at -5 under. He will have to shoot -10 to make a real shot at the green jacket, and I don’t think that will be happening. Today’s round was critical for Tiger.
Defending champion, Phil Mickelson, also didn’t do much to put himself in contention for back to back title shots, shooting only -1 under today. Phil is now -3, two shots behind Tiger.
To keep from missing the action, you can also watch the Masters live online, in regular and HD.
