For the first time in history of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tourney (March Madness), there are 68 teams.
The first round of the tourney is the “first four” which takes place over the first 2 days of the tourney.
Today Clemson played University Of Alabama Birmingham and UNC Asheville played Univ Of Arkansas Little Rock.
The Clemsom Tigers won their game pretty easily 70 to 52. At the half they had a 12 point lead, 39 to 27.
They shot 52% from the field and 30.8% from the 3 point line. Jerai Grant lead the team in scoring with 22 points. He also had 7 rebounds and an assist.
The leading scorer for UAB was Jamarr Sanders with 19 points. 15 of those points came from the 3 points line.
Clemson will now be the 12th seed in the East bracket and will face West Virginia Univ on Thursday at 12:00 pm. WVU is the 5th seed in that bracket.
UNC Ashveville won their game 81 to 77 over UALR. They had to overcome a 4 point deficit to start the second half to take the game to overtime. They outscored UALR 9 to 5 in overtime to get the win.
UALR controlled much of the game. At one point, half way through the 2nd half, they were up 9 points. Dickey got hot with a 3, then a dunk, then lay up, and another 3 to tie the game and go to overtime.
UNC Asheville only lead once in the game before overtime.
Matt Dickey and J.P. Primm both had 22 points for UNC Ashville. J.P. got his points from the free throw line and Matt had a mix of 2s and 3s.

UNC Ashville will play the #1 seeded Pittsburgh Panthers in the Southeast Men’s Basketball Bracket on Thursday at 3:00 pm.
