After just 1 week with the Washington Wizards, Mike Bibby and the team agree to a buy out. Mike Bibby’s Agent, David Falk, says that Bibby is late in his career and is more interested in winning a championship than in money.
Bibby had a year left on his contract that would pay $6.2 million. His agent, Falk, said that Bibby will lose some money, but that it isn’t as important as getting to the big dance and getting a ring. Bibby is 32 years old.
The 6′ 2″ point guard born in New Jersey, came to the NBA in as the second pick of the ’98 draft, a year after winning a national championship with Arizona as a freshman.
He has played with the Vancouver Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, and the Washington Wizards after only 2 games.
According to ESPN, there are 4 teams that are interested in picking up Bibby. The Lakers, Celtics, Blazers, and the Heat. He can’t go anywhere until he clears waivers which is expected to be on Wednesday.
