Mavs Finish Heat; Dirk Crowned MVP; Terry Keeps Tattoo

The Dallas Mavericks were on a 2 game win streak coming into game #6 in Miami, they had a 3-2 lead, and they just wanted to finish the series while the momentum was still in their favor.

They did just that. Dirk and the boys knocked off the Miami Heat, in Miami, and won the NBA Finals.

The Mavs just kept finding a way to win with contributions from the entire team.

Every player just kept picking up the slack and filling in the gaps.

Last night was no different. Jose Berea kept giving the Mavs that little spark that the Heat couldn’t put out. Then Jason Terry got hot and hit some outside jumpers that kept them rolling along.

The Mavericks had 4 players in double digits scoring, and two more players with 9. Nine players for the Mavericks had 4 points or more.

Dirk Nowitzki (Finals MVP) was the player of the game with 21 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals.

Jason Terry had 27 on the night and at times seemed unstoppable. The Heat couldn’t find a way to slow any of the Maverick players down.

D. Wade only had 17 points. LeBron had 21 and Bosh had 19. It just wasn’t enough. For the Big 3, neither had a breakout game at a time when someone needed (D. Wade) to step up and just take over the game.

Regardless, it was a great game and an epic moment for both teams. The Mavs win there first ever NBA Championship, and the Miami Heat made the Finals and to game #6, the first year into the rebuild of a team that has the chance of being a great all time team.

The Final score was 105-95. In 2006, the Mavericks were up on the Heat 2-0, and the Heat won 4 straight to take the title. This year, the Heat was up 2-1, and Dallas paid it back by winning 3 straight to get the title.

It was Dirk’s first Championship, something that LeBron will have to wait at least another year to try and accomplish. Dirk (10 time All-Star) can now feel complete.

It was such a neat story for the Mavs to win, especially for Jason Kidd (38), who had been to the Finals twice before, but couldn’t get the trophy, to get it with his original team (Dallas Mavericks).
