Augusta, Georgia, USA (NEWSTABULOUS) – After the holding the #1 spot on the Masters 2011 leader-board for three rounds, the Northern Ireland golf phenomenon, Rory McIlroy has many wondering if he is the new Tiger Woods.
As Woods appears to be losing his grip on the golf club; McIlroy, 21, seems to be picking up his clubs and re-enacting Woods’ rise to fame.
This would be McIlroy’s first major championship, if he wins, and he would be become the second youngest player to win the title: Woods is the youngest. Woods was a few months younger than McIlroy, when he won the Masters in 1997.
McIlroy is at the top of the leader-board with 12 strokes under; he shot 65 in round one, 69 in round 2, and 70 in round three – for a total of 204.
McIlroy came in playing strong and seems to have his sights set on wearing the green jacket. Currently, he has a 4 stroke lead.
When questioned about McIlroy, Tiger Woods once said:
“He has all the components to be the best player in the world.”
After round three, Tiger Woods is in ninth place with 5 strokes under.
