ESPNU 150 released their 2011-2012 College Football Recruiting Top 150 and Mario Edwards, from Denton-Ryan high school, is in the #1 spot.
Mario Jr., following in his father’s football steps, is a 6′ 4″ 270 pound best of a young man, and has made a verbal commitment to Florida State just like daddy did (’96-99).
Mario Jr. chose to be a Seminole because they are going to let him play his position, defensive end as long as he keeps his speed.
Of this year’s class, only 8 players have a 5 star rating on ESPN 150, and Mario is the highest rated player of them all with a rating of 90. His closest competitor is Eddie Goldman (DT 310 lbs) has a rating of 87.
Mario had 18 sacks and 127 tackles last season as he helped lead his team to the Texas State 4A finals against Austin Lake Travis.
Mario transferred to Denton Ryan from Prosper High School, and has been blessed to be brought up and trained in his early years by his dad, Mario Sr.
His goals for his senior year are to top 150 tackles and 20 sacks and “go out with a bang”.
Denton Ryan is a amazing football program, and have competed for the Championship in 4 of the last 11 season. With players like Mario, they will have a chance again to compete for the 4A State Title.
