Manchester United Announces Ticket Increase

Manchester, United Kingdom (NEWSTABULOUS) – Today, Manchester United soccer team has released an email statement notifying fans that they will be raising the cost of their tickets, next season.

In the email statement from Manchester United, the team said the price increase is due the 2.5% increase in the UK’s sale tax. According to the email, the new ticket prices will cost:

* 28 pounds (46.3 USD) per game for the cheapest adult ticket, which is a 3.7% increase.

* 50 pounds (82.61 USD) per game for the most expensive adult ticket, which is a 2% increase.

* 20 pounds (33.04 USD) for ages 16 and 17, which is double last year’s 10 pound ticket for this age group.

* 20 pounds (33.04 USD) for Senior citizens.

As expected Manchester United fans are extremely upset about the hike in price.
In a statement, Chief executive of the Manchester United Supporters Trust Duncan Drasdo said:

“Fans have seen prices rise 55 percent in the seasons since the Glazers took over and at a time when the club has been enjoying continued commercial success, something they seem more than happy to crow about, along with more than 100 million pounds cash sitting in the bank unspent, they want to take yet more from ordinary supporters, many of whom are struggling in difficult economic conditions.”

This week, the Arsenals also announced that they would be increasing their tickets by 6.5%. Arsenal Chief Executive Officer Ivan Gazidis wrote a letter to the Arsenal Supporters Trust stating:

“I share your concerns that ordinary fans are being priced out of live football. This is bad for the continued health of the game and is driven primarily by escalating and ultimately unsustainable levels of spending on transfer fees and salaries.”

United is set to match Schalke, tonight, and is up 2-0 in the semifinal second-leg match. If United makes it to the Champions Leagues finals and win; the will set a English record with 19 championships.
