Lakers Can Kiss Their 3-Peat Goodbye

Dallas, Texas, USA (NEWSTABULOUS) – After loosing a critical Game 3 98-92 last night to the Dallas Mavericks in the semifinals, the Los Angeles Lakers hopes of winning a third consecutive championship this year have been stomped on.

No team in NBA history has ever came back after being down 3 games to win a series. It is going to take some kind of miracle for the Lakers to come back and defeat the Mavs who are looking to put the Lakers to rest in Sundays Game 4.

Dirk Nowitzki said of Game 4:

“We’ve just got to go for it. We’re not good enough to coast or relax or anything. We’ve got to go for it on Sunday.”

Coach Rick Carlisle on last night’s game:

“The key to the game, aside from Dirk being the guy who facilitated everything on offense, was that Peja did a great job on Lamar Odom the last six or seven minutes. As great as Kobe Bryant is — and he is un-guardable — Odom is right there with him as one of the most difficult matchups in all of basketball. … We needed Peja’s shooting out there, but the job he did defensively was equally important.”

Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who has never been down 0-3 in a series, much less been swept, in 20 years as an NBA coach said:

“We’re disappointed. We feel like Games 1 and 3 we controlled the pace of the games. They were better at finishing the games than we were. But we still believe we’re going to win the next game and we’ll go from there.”

This will be Phil Jackson last year of coaching NBA basketball before he retires.
