Toronto, Ontario, Canada (NEWSTABULOUS) – At Ryerson University in downtown Toronto the Juno Hoops 2011 was the first-ever celebrity basketball game in support of MusiCounts – Canada’s national music education charity associated with CARAS (Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences).
Juno Hoops was presented by Globe and Mail and sponsored by Clothe Your City, and is one of the lead up events to the 40th Juno Awards.
Twenty players on two teams competed for the inaugural Juno Hoops Trophy, with an MVP award given out to one player on each team.
Team “Bounce” consisted of Donovan Bailey (two time World Record holder, two time Olympic Champion, three time World Champion sprinter), DJ Skratch Bastid, Devo Brown, DJ Future the Prince, J.E. Skeets, Michael Grange, Dwayne Pitt, Will Strickland and two members of the Ram’s basketball team Jordon Gauthier and Alexandrea Tkaczyk.
Team “Groove” members were Aion Clarke, DJ Doc, Glenn Lewis, Tas Melas, Dwayne Morgan, James Nelan, Ray Robinson, Silver, Adam White, P Reign, and two members of the Ram’s team Bjorn Michaelsen and Ashley MacDonald.
Half-time entertainment featured the C.W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute drum line.
Team “Bounce” led to the 89-79 win over Team “Groove”.
Right after the game, a special exhibition contest between two of Ontario’s top midget boy’s teams took place between Toronto Triple Threat and the Mississauga Monarchs.
