The Gators will be awaiting their in state rival, the Florida State Seminoles, as the Gator’s have already punched their ticket into the Elite 8. Florida State plays VCU Friday night.

The Gators are the #2 seed in the Southeast bracket and will play the winners of Butler vs. Wisconsin game.

Jimmer, the national player of the year candidate, started the game off hot knocking down some deep 3s, but couldn’t maintain that heat in the end. This was Jimmer’s last game as he is a senior this year.

He put up 32 points in one of the biggest shoot outs of the year, but ended up in a overtime game that they lost. Florida had a chance to win just before the buzzer, but couldn’t put it in the bucket. There was a record 71 three pointers shot in the game.

The Florida defense kept a hand in Jimmer’s face most of the game keeping Jimmer to only 3-15 from the 3 point line. BYU had no other player in double digits for scoring.

Florida on the other hand, had 4 players in double digits. Alex Tyrus was Florida’s leading scorer with 19 points and a double double. He also had 17 rebounds, 2 assist, and 1 block.

The Gators look strong as a team and are playing good ball. They shot 47% from the field and 32% from the 3 point line. They will need to pick up their free throw percentage as it was a dismal 45%.

Butler is on the way to an upset in their game, up 33-24 at the half, and if they can hold on they will face the Gators in the Elite 8 game on Saturday.
