Djokovic Rafa-ed Nadal; Wins Wimbledon; Keeps #1

Novak Djokovic has been rated the number one player in the world in men’s tennis, but there was some speculation as to whether he really is the best.

Djokovic faced the number seeded player and defending champion Rafael Nadal Sunday for the title and to put pressure on who’s really the number one men’s tennis player in the world.

Without question the Serb came out on top, and let the world know that there is a reason he is ranked the number player in the world with a 48-1 record on the year.

Facing the defending champ and winner of 5 of the last 6 Grand Slams, Djokovic pulled out the win in sets: 6-4, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.

The Serb dominated the court and ended the 20 game win steak Nadal was on at Wimbledon. Nadal was finally on the other end of a big loss. When Nadal won his first Wimbledon title in 2008, he ended the 40 game win streak that Federer was on.

Nadal, who is still winning the series against Djokovic at 16-12, and now 5-1 in Grand Slams, has lost 8 of the last 10 matches against Djokovic. This includes five losses in a row. Djokovic has now won two of the last three Grand Slams.

Right now we have four of the best men players to ever play the game, all playing at the same time in Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray.

Djokovic started playing tennis after watching Pete Sampras win Wimbledon 20 years ago, so this is the most important tourney for him and he finally has a title.

Today Djokovic is the number one player in the world and has a Wimbledon Grand Slam title to go with it.
