The 52 year old, Fred Couples, shot a 4 under today to move into a tie for fifth.
He shot -1 to start the Masters on Thursday, and today with his -4, he is heading into the weekend at -5.
He looks comfortable, he looks relaxed, he looks ready to keep on rolling.
After making 3 birdies on the front nine and no bogeys, he had 2 birdies and a bogey on the back nine.
Couples’ only bogey today was on the par 5, 15th, but he birdied the very next hole to get back to 5 under.
Couples is hitting his iron pretty good and consistent as always, and his putting stroke looks smooth.
At this moment there is a 3 way tie for 5th, and all of those players are already done with their second round play.
Those players are: Yang, Barnes, and Couples.
Yang shot even par today, and Barnes shot 1 under.
Quiros finished day one of the Masters in a tie for 1st with McIlroy, and after a bogey on hole 1, he got back on track and had 5 straight pars, then back to back birdies on holes 7 & 8, but finished the front nine with a bogey.
He then double bogeyed the par 3, 12th, and fell back 2 more shots to 5 under. Over the last 7 holes he had 6 straight pars and finished the day with a birdie to get out of the 4 way tie for fourth, and move into a 2 way tie with Ogilvy, for 3rd.
Quiros can hit the ball, but is a streaky, up & down player. It makes him very exciting to watch. After each hole he seems to just get a little more comfortable.
If this keeps up, he will be able to make a run at a green jacket.
