Carmelo Anthony scores 42 points, has 17 rebounds, 6 assist, and 2 blocks, but it still wasn’t enough to put one in the win column for the New York Knicks.
The Celtics and the Knicks faced off Tuesday night in game #2 of their playoff series, and the Celtics walked away with the win, 96-93, and the 2-0 lead in the series.
Despite the effort by Carmelo, the Celtics had a great team scoring effort, and an extra lift from Rondo who had 30 points.
Kevin Garnett had a double double, with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Pierce had 20 points and Ray Allen, the three point king, had 18 points, of which he was 4 of 4 from beyond arc.
Carmelo really missed the play of Billups, who was out with a sore knee, and then to make matters worse, Stoudemire goes out in the second half.
The Knicks had a chance to pick up a layup with less than 10 seconds in the game that would have given them the lead, but a steal by Garnett thwarted that attempt.
The Knicks dominated the boards 53-37, but it really came down to missing two key opportunities. There were to opportunities to take the big shots, toward the final seconds of the game that would have given the lead, that cost them the game.
Even with the loss, it was the most fun I have seen Spike Lee have at a game in a long time.
