El Segundo, California, USA (NEWSTABULOUS) – Lakers center Andrew Bynum’s flagrant foul on Dallas guard J.J. Barea in Sundays Game 4 has cost him a five-game suspension of the next season.
The NBA announced the suspension Tuesday, two days after Bynum was ejected for the foul in the two-time defending champions’ 36-point embarrassing loss to the Mavericks in their final game of the 2011 NBA season.
The NBA also fined Bynum $25,00 for ripping off his jersey on the court on his way to the locker room after the ejection.
Bynum hit Barea with an elbow while the Dallas guard drove to the basket in the fourth quarter. Barea wasn’t seriously injured, but stayed on the court for an extended time.
Bynum apologized for his actions in his exit interview on Tuesday afternoon stating his actions were terrible and unacceptable. Watch his exit interview here http://www.nba.com/lakers/video/2011/05/10/110510exitinterviewsandrewbynum-1678475.
