Butler Stuns #1 Seed Pitt

In a 1 point victory, Butler upsets the #1 seed Pittsburgh Panthers.

The final score was 71-70. I have been calling the Southeast bracket, the upset bracket.

There are so many teams positioned just right to upset higher seed teams.

In this round, Butler and Gonzaga were those teams. Gonzaga will need a miracle to come back from being down 23 points with 4:18 left in the game, but Butler pulled it off.

In a recent news post I said that Pittsburgh had a good second round game, but still showed weakness because of their week conference game play. They also had very little momentum heading into this game.

Well, Butler saw an opportunity and pulled off an upset. Butler is the #8 seed in the Southeast bracket and Pitt was #1.

Butler had an 8 point lead at the half in the Verizon Center in Washington, DC.

Pitt tied the game up pretty early in the second half, but Butler got hot again.

Pitt just couldn’t slow down Shelvin Mack who hit’em for 30 and was the Butler’s leading scorer. He also had 2 rebounds and 3 assist. He was 7 of 12 at the 3 point line.

Butler will play the winner of the Kansas St. vs. Wisconsin game.
