Butler was on cruise control up double digits against the #4 seed Wisconsin for some of the game, but then Wisconsin got hot when they went into the full court press against Butler late into the game.
They cut the lead to 4 with just over a min left in the game. Butler was trying to run some time off the clock and got a big shot from Shelvin Mack with the shot clock down to 1 and just inside of 1 minute left in the game.
Wisconsin wasn’t done though as they hit a three pointer two possessions later to cut the lead to 4 with 34 seconds left in the game.
After Butler had a big offensive rebound on a missed free throw, you could see reality setting in for the Badgers that they were probably going home.
Going home is exactly what they will do as Butler held on to complete back to back upsets in the NCAA men’s basketball tourney and get into the Elite 8.
Butler will face the #2 seed Florida Gators who beat Jimmer and the BYU Cougars on Thursday night in an overtime game to get into the Elite 8.
The final score of the Butler vs. Wisconsin game was 61-54. Matt Howard lead the team in scoring with 20 points. He also lead the team and the game in rebounding with 12 to complete his double double.
Jordan Taylor lead Wisconsin scoring with 22.
To make the Final Four Butler will have to figure out a way to slow down Florida’s Alex Tyrus who had 19 points and 17 rebounds against the BYU Cougars on Thursday night.
