Bruins Win Cup Fans Riot; Luongo Silenced; Tim MVP

After not being able to win in Vancouver in three tries during the Stanley Cup Finals, Boston wins the most important game, game #7, and brings the trophy back to Boston for the first time since 1972.

This Stanley Cup finals was one of the most exciting and up and down Finals in the history of the Cup.

Neither team wanted to give up a victory on home ice, but Vancouver finally broke at the wrong time.

The series was filled with trash talking, fighting, winless road games, shutouts, and scoreboard spankings.

Tim Thomas (Boston Bruins Goalie), had two shutouts in the series, but so did his enemy on the other end of the ice…

The biggest difference was that when Timmy (and the Bruins) lost, it wasn’t from totally annihilation and break down as when the Canucks lost.

That is what helped to lead to Tim Thomas, one of the greatest overall performances as a goalie in the Stanley Cup Finals, to win the Conn Smythe trophy (MVP Trophy).

Timmy, and the Boston Bruins, did it in great style to, winning 4-0 in the final game in Vancouver, the first road win of the Stanley Cup for either team.

After the win, the Vancouver Canuck fans started rioting in the city. It has lead to over 150+ people getting hurt and needing treatment, and to 7 arrest so far and hundreds of thousand of dollars in damage to local business and automobiles.

Vet, Mark Recchi (forward for Boston), retired after winning his 3rd Stanley Cup.

Highlight players for Boston are Tim Thomas, who had 37 saves on the night, Bergeron who had 2 goals, and Marchand who had 2 goals and 1 assist.

Luongo had 17 saves and gave up 4 goals, which was the worst performance that he has had on his home ice in the series. Luongo had some terrible games in Boston, but had held his own on in Vancouver until game #7.

All of the herald goes to Tim though. The 37 year old, although very nervous coming into the game #7, held the highest scoring team in the NHL to only 8 goals in 7 games.

Timmy’s new record, no other goalie has made more saves in a Stanley Cup Finals series than Tim Thomas.
