Bruins Robbed In Final 18 Seconds; Canucks Closer To Holding Cup

Vancouver Canucks fans who had almost been holding their the entire first game of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals, finally had something to really let out a cheer about in the final 18 seconds of game #1.

This was one of the best defensive matches of the year, as both the Boston Bruins and the Vancouver Canucks held each other scoreless through more than 59 minutes of play.

Each team was strategically frustrating the other by thwarting the others opportunities to score.

With just over 18 seconds left in the game, Raffi Torre got open and received a pass from Jannik Hansen that he was able to put into the back of the net. This one score in the final seconds of the game is all that was needed to steal the win from the Boston Bruins.

Roberto Luongo was the Championship Circle player of the game. He had 36 saves as he completed his third shutout of the playoffs for the Canucks.

Vancouver has won the first game of every postseason game this year. They will need to keep the pressure on and close it out.

Game #1 was in Vancouver, and game #2 will also be there (Rogers Arena) on Saturday night.

Thomas, the Bruins goalie, had 33 saves and stopped 6 power plays from the Canucks. The Canucks are the NHL’s highest scoring team, and holding them scoreless through 59 minutes (in the Stanley Cup Finals) is an accomplishment in and of it’s self.
