Boston Spanks Canucks; Thomas 40 Saves

The Bostons Bruins decided that they wanted to let the Vancouver Canucks know that if they want to take home the Cup, they will have to fight for it.

Going into game #3, the Canucks were leading the series 2-0, and seem to be cruising along to their first franchise Stanley Cup in their history, but then came game #3.

The Boston Bruins, on home court in front of a packed house of over 17,500 fans, gave their fans something to cheer about by winning the game in stellar fashion, 8-1 (giving up their only goal in the 3rd period).

Tim Thomas, who was hookwinked in game #2 by Burrows overtime sneak around shot just 11 seconds into the overtime period, had 40 saves on the night.

Even with all the good that happened for the Boston Bruins, it can’t make up for watching their teammate, Nathan Horton, getting wheel off in a stretcher and heading to the hospital after a hit from Vancouver’s Aaron Rome.

This hit (check in the neutral zone) was just 5 minutes into the game. This is just the type of blindside hit that has been under-discussion about being removed from the game.

There was a lot of emotions in this game. The opportunity for the Bruins to fall behind 3-0 in the series, disappointing the fans in Boston, the 8-1 win, the hit that sent Horton to the hospital in a stretcher.

The series is now at 2-1, and Boston will have homeice advantage on Wednesday night when the two teams face off for game #4.

Some quick Bruins highlight players are: Tim Thomas had a .976 save percentage, Marchand who had 1 goal and 1 assist, and Recchi who had 2 goals.
