The defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks, who snuck into the playoffs, were in a win and your still in or lose and your going home situation tonight.
The Blackhawks, who were trailing the series 3-0 and facing elimination, picked up the win tonight against the Vancouver Canucks 7-2.
The Blackhawks had only scored 5 points combined in the previous 3 games.
The Blackhawks leading contributor of the night, Dave Bolland, almost didn’t play tonight because he was just coming off of a concussion and there didn’t seem to be any reason to risk playing him.
In Bolland’s first game back after missing 17 games, he had 1 goal and 3 assist, which gave a huge lift to Chicago, and kept them from being swept for the series.
The Blackhawks’ Patrick Sharp, had two of the four goals scored in the 3 period tonight. Both of Sharps scores were on power plays.
Bickell, Campbell, Keith, and Frolik were the other scorers for the Blackhawks.
This was David Bolland’s first career 4 point game. The series is now at 3-1, and the next game is in Vancouver on Thursday.
