After being on the verge of getting swept, down 3 games to 0, the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks have won back to back games.
The Blackhawks, in the attendance of a full house in Vancouver, beat the Canucks 5-0 and keep their playoff hopes alive.
This win comes 2 days after their 7-2 win over the Canucks in game #4.
Keith was the big timer in this game with 4 points. He had 2 goals and 2 assist in the game.
The Blackhawks had a great day from their goalie, Crawford, who had 36 saves on the night.
The series is now at 3-2.
The Blackhawks scored 3 goals in the first period. The first game on a power play by Hossa, and then just :24 seconds later Keith put them on the board again.
Patrick Kane scored on a power play, for the third goal of the first period.
Hossa scored again 1:26 into the second period, and a little over three minutes later, Keith scored his second goal and gave the Blackhawks the 5-0 lead.
The 3 perios was scoreless for both teams, but it did get physical. The Blackhawks’, Hossa, was penalized for hooking, then 4 minutes later, Vancouver’s Samuelsson, was penalized for high sticking. A scuffle broke out after the game, but on the ice.
There is a lot of emotion in these games because the last two seasons the Blackhawks eliminated the Canucks from the playoffs.
The Blackhawks will play game #6 at home on Sunday. Vancouver will have to overcome the doubt that has built up from dropping the last two game in terrible fashion.
