In the new ESPN Dallas area high school pre-season football rankings, Allen Eagles come out as the #1 ranked team.
Allen, lead by QB Alec Morris and RB Jonathan Williams, lost last year in the playoffs to national powerhouse Euless Trinity 37-35.
Jonathan Williams had over 2,000 yards and 19 TDs as a junior running back for the Eagles last year, and Alec passed for 2,533 yards and 22 TDs with only 6 INTs.
The difference this year says QB Morris is: “confidence”. Last year Allen had less than 5 returning starters with Varsity experience, this year they have 14. The Allen Eagles are just two seasons removed from winning the State title and are excited about the outlook this year.
Since winning the state title, Allen remained on the bubble of returning to the big game. In 2009 they lost a shocker in double overtime to Southlake Carroll, and last year they lost by 2 to a perennial powerhouse in Euless Trinity.
Euless Trinity is the second ranked team in 5A in the Dallas area followed by: Skyline, Cedar Hill, Southlake Carrol, Coppell, DeSoto, Plano, Garland, and South Grand Prairie who got a new coach from Richardson High.
The top 3 Dallas area 4A teams were: Aledo, Denton Ryan, and Highland Park.
