Secaucus, New Jersey, USA (NEWSTABULOUS) – After losing Lebron James and facing the second worst record in the history of the league, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a chance at redemption after winning the 2011 NBA Draft Lottery, which gives them the 1st pick in the draft.
The Cavaliers have not selected first in the draft since 2003, when they choose James straight out of high school.
Cavalier owner Dan Gilbert said:
“Shocking events took place last summer and it was a slow, long, painful haul to get through it. Maybe this will be the final straw in getting over the hump, getting to the other side, and having a lot of hope for the future. That’s what we need.”
The Cavaliers also acquired the fourth pick from the Clippers, in exchange for Baron Davis.
The 2011 NBA Draft will be held Thursday, June 23 in Newark, New Jersey at the Prudential Center.
